Building a magnificent Dawn Treader!

Two days ago we went out to see the building of the Dawn Treader...and what a sight that was! I won't comment much, I'll let the photos do the talking! Click open any of the photos to see full size.

If you haven't already seen the photos of Voyage of the Dawn Treader movie set, pop on over and take a look after looking at these photos.

This is a great shot but this side is yet to have the wing put on.

This has been built at the end of a very long, narrow strip of land, surrounded by the sea on eitherside, these photos were taken at low tide, so we could walk right around it.

I believe this is part of the set as well, looks like a lighthouse. (No, I have found out it isn't, it is always here and under renovation!)

You can see the wing on this side.

Through the door are two men inside the cabin.

Fantastic poop deck!
The workmanship on this boat is wonderful...

They have a mini grandstand set up for people to come and sit awhile to watch the daily building activities....

A lovely little feature..a golden fish.

Here you can see the Dawn Treader at the very end of the point, we are walking along a boat ramp, now have a look at the next photo...

Now you can see where the lighthouse is in relation to it....

Now you can just see the two features either end.... could step back another inch otherwise I'd be off the concrete ramp into a shin-depth of ooze!

Just fantastic to see close up....

And WHAT a tail!

We are really looking forward to when filming starts with this!

Well we hobbled over sharp, barnacle ladened rocks, sludged through muddy sea goo, slipped and slithered all over the place, my shoes fell apart, everyone else's were completely muddy, some were piggy-backing everyone else.. but boy it was worth it!!

Thank you so much for sharing your photos. As huge Narnia fans, we are very excited about this movie coming and really enjoyed seeing glimpses of it pre-production. Now we'll just have to muster up the patience to wait until it's released in the theaters.

Thank you! How many excellent photographs.
The ship - very beautiful. I am only a little troubled the bottom of the ship - it was flat. I want to know how the ship will stay in the water.

I loved looking at the photos. There are some great close ups. I am a local resident where it is being filmed and i thought i would let you know that the lighthouse is not part of the set. They have it covered as the local birds are chipping away at the paint and it is being fixed and repainted.
