December and January Beading Moments..

I have been quietly beading and it has given me alot of enjoyment of late.

The piece above was meant to be a $20 secret santa gift (with a dragonfly on it, see below) but I have troubles doing things by halves, I just kept going until I had made something that was obviously worth much more than $20. Then my mother fell in love with it, (I loved it too) but it is now spoken for and the lady had asked for the dragonfly to be removed and a eucharistic medal to take it's place... I have definately a green person, especially when there is aqua as well..

This is how it looked before the change...the dragonfly and some of the other parts are from Vintaj ~ I love their products.

Lourdes necklace, with lovely subtle grey's and washed out lavenders and pinks..this one will be going over to Tota Pulchra Beads soon..

This is one of my all time favourites, it will be winging it's way to the States tomorrow...

I love the colour mix in this rosary, and at last a most beautiful rosary center I like has been cast in solid bronze and not just the sterling silver..

This is my lovely paraman necklace with Our Lady and the Child Jesus. Very earthy, the stones are so subtle yet so alive sprinkled with my favourite swaroski crystal colour, it's luminous and throws of blues and purples, 'Crystal AB Satin'.

For those who have not heard of a paraman, here is a description:

"The word paraman originally and strictly referred to a monastic "scapular" in the Byzantine Church. It was rectangular and made of cloth and only worn by monks. The sole motive on the paramans was a depiction of the cross. The paraman pictured is a modern version of the old type of monastic scapular where the motives are more varied (Jesus, Mary, the Cross) and they are "pressed' into the leather."

This piece was commissioned by a friend who had worn out a loved necklace that had interesting focal pieces to the side with little dangles ~ she wanted something similar but this time a religous piece. Lots of earthy colours...

A really beautiful eucharistic medal...

Sterling silver and lavender go so well together...

A St Anne tenner...

This rosary was really beautiful IRL, especially in the sun, the colours, the COLOURS were fantastic! It has a shamrock crucifix and a St Patrick's rosary center, so I called it initially 'The Forty Shades of Green' but a dear friend bought this for her daughter, the same lady who introduced me to the St Patrick's Breastplate ~ she had told me at the time that she recited it everyday for this lovely daughter ~ it struck me the otherday the connections!!! Just had to tell her!

The St Patrick's Breastplate is so very Christ-focused and it was lovely that I had added for the very first time, some little czech fire-polished beads with the image of the crucified Christ on them, they two, on either side of each Pater bead.

I love this pair of men's beads...the pater beads are a lovely thumb size, and feel so comfortable in your hands..this one will probably make it's way over to Tota Pulchra Beads as well.

This is not new, it's the original necklace that is in my Tota Pulchra Beads header...I've just decided to re-photograph it, took some lovely shots...

Anne--My package arrived this morning. It had to be the very best way to start a weekend ever! Each item is so very beautiful and the whole thought of your time, talent, and care in each piece brought me to tears. I wore the necklace all day today even though I stayed in my jammies! And the sweet baby belly has been well anointed! I cannot thank you enough for this overwhelming kindness!

Incredible Anne - and as a recipient of your beautiful creations I can well imagine the love and beauty that has gone into each piece.

I have been making a rosary for a baby today - about to crimp - using your double crimping tutorial - I am a bit nervous..

As a Byzantine Catholic, I was happy to see the beautiful paraman with the Blessed Mother & Christ Child that you used to make a lovely necklace. I ordered paramans from the site you linked to on your blog -- the one with the Blessed Mother & Christ Child & one with Christ Jesus on it. They arrived in the mail yesterday & are more beautiful than they looked online! I am excited to make necklaces from both of them. When our priest comes for dinner & to bless our house this evening, I am going to ask him if he knows an investiture prayer for these Byzantine-type scapulars. God bless!

I am so glad you ordered the Paramans~ And yes, they definately look better in real life, I thought that when I photographed it ~ delicate shadings on the Blessed Mother's paraman in particular, are very beautiful...

I am gasping at your creations! They have just the sort of ancient look I love, and your selection of beads is wonderful. The rosary is the loveliest thing I've seen in ages. If ever I need a really special gift for someone really special, I will turn to you...
