Precious Blood Reminder and Activity

Today, on the feast of the Precious Blood I have fine tuned the activities I had suggested we might do each for the whole month.

Our focus will be reparation.

I have been pondering today the beautiful scene in The Passion movie by Mel Gibson, where after the scourging, Our Lady and Mary Magdalen, lovingly wiped up the Precious Blood spilled violently, because of the sins of mankind.

The children and I also want to collect and wipe the blood spilled due to the sins of the world and for our own sins.

Firstly my dear mum lent me a beautiful goblet. I found a baby wrap that is bright red for the material. A lovely red candle & candle holder was found and some red paper.

I found a beautiful prayer that we will say everyday. Each day that we say this prayer of reparation and one of the children will be able to take one of the droplets of blood and place it in the chalice.

The prayer is for reparation, the activity visualizes this for the children in a very physical way.

Our daily prayer with our activity will be a little ‘offering’ prayer for souls to the Precious Blood on pg 123 of the manual.
An
Offering
Of the Precious
Blood for Souls

O my God, I beg of Thee in
union with the Immaculate Heart
of Mary, through the merits of the
Precious Blood offered Thee in every
Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world,
to grant that this day one mortal sin may be
averted, one soul in doubt may be converted to
the truth, one soul about to die in sin may receive
the grace of repentance and a happy death, and
the deliverance of that soul in purgatory which is
nearest Heaven. I wish by this offering to console
the Heart Of Jesus in agony for the souls lost
through the Teaching of error against the
true Church of Christ Jesus,
Our Lord. Amen

We have incorporated our Sacred Heart statue into this Precious Blood activity and it is fitting.

June – the month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is followed on by the month of July – the month of the Precious Blood.

The Precious Blood, we have shown, flowing down from the wound in Jesus’ Sacred Heart and His wounded hands – down into the cup, which represents the chalice at Mass where the wine is turned into the Precious Blood of Jesus at the consecration.
We are fed and nourished by this Blood every time we go to Mass and receive Holy Communion.
What do we want to do in this month?

I want to quote from a little gem of a book Jenn found and bought called,
The Story of the Precious Blood by Rev. Joseph F. Stedman.
We want to imitate in the smallest of ways what the Sister Adorers do everyday
and this is how they see their life’s mission, and I quote:

"Leaving all, to do all, for all...this is the life of the Sisters Adorers:
as Veronicas, to help ease Christ's sufferings caused by sin...
as Simons...to help mankind carry life's crosses...
as lives dedicated to our Lord's Precious Blood, to atone for the world's sins by their sacrifice.
A bells sounds through the corridors of the cloister...It is the hour of midnight...
and as the chime floats echoing back, it brings with it a flow of blood-red surging down the corridor...
In the bleeding red of their habits, the Sisters go in procession to the Sanctuary.
"O Father if it be possible, let this chalice pass from Me"...
They keep vigil with Him in His Agony as when His Blood poured in that garden 1900 years ago.
He must be spared the pain of that reproach:
"Could you not watch one hour with Me?"
